We are a family-run business offering high-quality Dressage and Jumping training on Schoolmaster horses. We are the premier Vermont riding facility, offering boarding, training, lessons, clinics and camps on our horses or yours.

Shanderhof Farm is owned by the Vanderwerken Family:Renee and Dave; daughters Meggi and Erika. Between them, and their neighbors, Doornhof Farm (owned by Renee’s parents, Henry and Janet Schurink), this local community offers three generations of horsemen. Talent this deep is difficult to find anywhere, but especially welcome in the beautiful mountains of Vermont.

Whether you choose to have your horse boarded and trained by Renee or Meggi, or ride one of theirs, you are ensured positive, quality instruction on amazing horses. The training philosophy does not include any gimmicks, fads or harsh training devices. Shanderhof prides itself on safety for both horse and rider, using only classical, correct and gentle training methods.

Are you looking for FEI level Dressage Schoolmasters to ride? We have several to offer you, depending on your level of experience. This enables you to practice higher level movements without the expense of purchasing a high level horse. We have horses available for every level of rider, allowing students to learn not only from Renee and Meggi, but from the horses as well. See our “Meet our Horses” page for full equine bios.

Shanderhof Farm tailors its lesson program to all riders: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Instruction focuses first on safety for horse and rider and follows the classical dressage and jumping training principles.
